Users and Quarantines : Search for Users

Search for Users
Quickly find any user by typing its address in any of several convenient search forms. Search for users:
*
Under Users on the Orgs and Users tab, where you can also find user aliases or confine your search to particular organizations.
*
*
By typing a partial address, as a shortcut, or to narrow down your search. (Type the beginning of the address to find all users that begin with your text; precede your text with a % to find all users that contain your search text.)
Note: Search results are limited to the first 15,000 users found.
Basic Search
1.
Locate the Find User form under Users on the Orgs and Users tab. This form appears at the top of most pages.
Be sure that the user belongs to the current organization or one of its sub-orgs (use the Choose Orgs list if you need to change the current organization).

3.
Click the Search button. One or more users matching your search text appear in a resulting list. Click a user address to go to its Overview page, or click the icon to view its Quarantine.
Searching from the Users page: Finds this user, as long as it’s in the current organization or one of its sub-orgs.
Search from the Home Page
You can begin searching for users as soon as you log in to the Administration Console, using either of two forms. As with any search, be sure that the user you’re searching for belongs to the current organization or one of its sub-orgs:
*
Search form This is exactly like searching from User pages as described above under “Basic Search.” Be sure the User option is selected.
This search will list all users in the domain acme.com:
*
User Shortcut This is also like searching from User pages, except if you type a complete address, you can click the Quarantine button to view the user’s Quarantine, or View Settings to go to its Overview page.
Typing a complete user address in this form takes you directly to the user’s Quarantine or Overview page. Click Launch to open the form in a pop-up window that always sticks around.
Refine Your Search
You can refine your search by specifying additional criteria, available on the Users and User Summaries pages. Note that all typing convention described for a basic search apply for these searches, too.
*
Search for user aliases Check the aliases box.
This shows how to find all users and user aliases, in the current org or its sub-orgs, beginning with “hobie”:
*
Search for a particular user’s aliases On the User Summaries page, enter the user in the box above the Aliased To column. Make sure aliases is checked, too.
In this example, we find only user aliases that belong to users beginning with “helen.”
*
Confine your search to the current org Uncheck the sub-orgs box.
In this example, we find users in the current organization, only (no sub-orgs), that end with “acme.com.”
*
Confine your search to any org On the User Summaries page, enter the organization in the box above the Org column. Optionally enter text in any of the other boxes, too (results will match all criteria).
In this example, we find all addresses in orgs beginning with “Acme” that are aliased to users whose addresses contain “sales”
Search Text Tips
You can type a partial address when searching for users, as a shortcut, or to narrow your search by finding several users with similar addresses. You can do this in any search form, on User pages or the Home page.
If you type jean, for example, and only one user address begins with “jean,” you’ll find that user. If more users begin with “jean,” you’ll see a list of users, and you can choose the one you want.
To find users whose address contains certain text but doesn’t begin with it, type the % character at the beginning. Typing %@jumboinc, for example, finds all users whose address contains “@jumboinc.”
Similarly type the $ character at the end of your text to find users whose address ends with the same address. Typing .org$, for example, finds all users belonging to a “.org” domain.
Tip: Use the techniques described here to list a subset of users, such as all users in a subdomain. Typing %@sales.jumboinc.com, for example, lists all users in the subdomain “sales.jumboinc.com.”
