POSTINI AWARDED EDITORS' CHOICE
BY PC MAGAZINE FOR SECOND TIME IN 2003

Feature-Rich Managed Anti-Spam Service Delivers More Powerful Tools
and Facilities Than Any Other Product or Service Tested

REDWOOD CITY, CA, October 28, 2003 – Postini™ (www.postini.com), the industry's leading provider of email security and management for the enterprise, today announced it was honored with PC Magazine's Editors' Choice Award for the second time this year. The review appeared in the magazine's "Enterprise Spam Tools" anti-spam product review, authored by Larry Seltzer, and will be published in the November 11, 2003 issue.

The review compared enterprise anti-spam software products and managed services from six vendors. Each product was installed on a Microsoft Exchange server and tested over a four-day period. The full review can be found at www.pcmag.com.

Postini Perimeter Manager was found to have a rich feature set with elaborate tools and facilities unmatched by any other product or service tested. One standout feature is Perimeter Manager's ability to give customization to users over and above the standard policies set for the organization. While most users can be given a particular level of sensitivity to types of spam, administrators can enable individual users to customize their spam filters. As a result, emails that include words typically quarantined within the organization can be allowed to pass through based on the individual's profession.

Another feature unique to Perimeter Manager is its scoring system, which sets the sensitivity level for general spam and subsets of spam types to protect against pornographic, get rich quick, commercial and racist emails. Increasing the sensitivity level to these categories improves the chances that these types of messages will be quarantined.

"We are pleased to maintain our leadership in this shootout with the competition," said Andrew Lochart, director of product marketing. "Winning the PC Magazine Editors' Choice award twice in one year is a testament to the robust feature set and leadership that has attracted record numbers of customers this year."

Each enterprise product or service was tested in its default configuration, without the normal sensitivity adjustments administrators make for their organization. All the products tested filter incoming mail to weed out spam based on algorithms, blacklists and heuristics. Product performance was measured by the features and capabilities available to users and the accuracy of the spam filtering technology.

Taking place this past August, the PC Magazine test used the Postini Perimeter Manager Standard Edition service. In September, Postini announced its next generation flagship email security service – Enterprise Edition. Perimeter Manager Enterprise Edition extends the company's leadership through pioneering technologies such as Industry Heuristics, which are the future for delivering even higher accuracy and lower false positives through industry and function specific heuristics.
