Over 200,000 Info Avenue Users
Info Avenue Selects "Industry's Best" to Deliver Protection to Their Nationwide Internet Service Providers and Their Email Users
Las Vegas, NV (ISPCon) - October 8, 2001 - Internet services provider Info Avenue selected Postini, the leading provider of seamlessly delivered high-value email services, to provide virus and spam protection for its consortium of Internet service providers and their over 200,000 email users.
"As the proliferation of spam and viruses continued to impact our resources and subscribers, we needed a proactive, cost effective method to deal with it. We researched many virus and spam solutions, and identified Postini as the best," stated Bruce Taube, Director of IS for Info Avenue.
"The primary advantages of Postini are the ease of deployment, the quality of the services from an end-user perspective, and the flexibility and control they give the service providers in provisioning and delivering the services," according to Taube.
The Postini Message Platform is a pre-processing infrastructure that requires no installation of new software or hardware by the service provider or email user. It currently applies spam and virus protection, wireless email delivery, and fax-by-email services in about 30 milliseconds, which means no detectable latency for email delivery. More high-value services are being developed.
Activation and deployment of the services is truly seamless. "Info Avenue was activated and delivering services to users within one week," according to Taube.
Postini delivers the only spam solution of its kind that puts the email user in control, not the ISP or an anonymous "spam editor". This is a particularly important feature as major ISPs have recently come under pressure for arbitrarily blocking email messages. This can result in accusations of censorship and threats of lawsuits.
Postini's web-based message center allows each email user to determine his or her own levels of filtering based on type of spam and level of aggressiveness. Users can also block and approve specific senders and entire domains.
The message center is also a quarantine area where suspicious messages are detained allowing email users to safely read virus-infected messages and to manage junk email.
Postini virus protection is powered by one of the industry's leading virus software vendors and is continually and automatically updated. Neither the email user nor the service provider ever has to update or download new virus protection. "With the increase of viruses the automatic, real-time updates protect our customers before they even realize the viruses exist," stated Taube.
The Postini Administration Console gives service providers incredible control and flexibility over how the services are delivered to their customers. It also provides unique centralized reporting that provides new details about their existing email systems.
"Info Avenue supports many different service providers, so the flexibility and hierarchical structure the Postini Admin Console provides is essential. Service providers can deploy one or more of the services across their entire user base through seamless integration with our system or, have users opt-in for one or more of the services." Taube said.
