BLANK LAW & TECHNOLOGY PARTNERS WITH POSTINI TO IMPROVE LITIGATION SUPPORT EFFICIENCIES USING POSTINI'S OFFLINE MESSAGE FILTERING SERVICE
Hybrid Law Firm and Security Integrator Utilizes Postini Technology to Reduce Message Payload by More Than 80% to Simplify Indexing, Posting and Compliance
SAN CARLOS, CA, December 13, 2005 — Postini, the global leader in Integrated Message Management, today announced a successful engagement with Blank Law & Technology, P.S. to leverage Postini's Offline Message Filtering service to enhance its computer forensics and electronic evidence discovery. In a recent Federal bankruptcy case, Postini customized a solution enabling Blank Law to filter and reduce twelve gigabytes of archived files to one gigabyte of legitimate email that could be quickly indexed and posted.

Seattle-based Blank Law was appointed in the bankruptcy case by the Federal bankruptcy court as a "special master", charged with hosting litigation documents for a wide range of cases involving a large corporation. Blank Law's assignment was to electronically index the documents and make them accessible to all parties involved in the litigation on a secure web site. Postini's enterprise services group worked with Blank Law's TestudoData division, an information integrator, to create offline message filtering tools to reduce and categorize the files to a more manageable amount of data.

Interest in "e-discovery" techniques is at an all-time high. A recent corporate legal counsel survey by Fulbright & Jaworksi reported that e-discovery has become the No. 1 new litigation-related burden for general counsel at companies with annual revenues exceeding $100 million. Discovery has become problematic because of the shift to digital communications which require special programming tools to extract data from a stored location into a usable format. Costs can be high: For example, in one case, the cost of recovering data was estimated at $9.75 million, reported the International of Defense Counsels, mainly because of the sheer magnitude and redundancy of data.
